KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met the leadership of the National Directorate of Security here the other day and felicitated them on the country’s 100th Independence Day.
President Ghani has ordered the National Directorate of Security (NDS) personnel to eliminate the Taliban and not allow them to harm the country and its people, a presidential statement said on Thursday. “Your services contributed to prevention of insecurity. You are not a forgotten force but national heroes and brave soldiers of this country,” the president said. Despite major threats and challenges in the past months, the Afghan forces managed to break the back of Taliban and not allow any terrorist group to carry out its activities.
The president, who is the commander in chief of armed forces, said the commitment and strength of armed forces provided an opportunity for the leadership of the country to speak decisively and clearly in the political arena. “Our government is an important partner of the international community and their support will continue with our security forces,” he said.
