World Children’s Day: President says more children are now attending school than ever before

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in a message on Tuesday congratulated the World Children’s Day to Afghan children, saying celebration of the day provides the opportunity to focus once again on children’s problems, providing them better education and training facilities, so that to ease a bright future for them. “Children make future of the country and tomorrow’s enlightenment is possible if they are given due attention,” the president said, as quoted in the statement, adding that although millions of children are still deprived of their basic rights, including education due to the unfortunate war in the country, but according to him, there are more children now attending school than ever before.
“Health and cultural services are provided for children as well as there are increasing awareness within society to better treat children,” the president was quoted in the statement as saying.
“Although government is committed to ensuring the fundamental rights of children, it is also working on specific and model programs to strengthen and perpetuate these rights,” the statement quoted as saying.
