KABUL: A scientific and research seminar of Ustad Kamaluddin Behzad, a painter, miniaturist and prominent figure of Herat’s Temoryan era initiated by the ministry of information and culture held on Sunday, BNA reported.
According to the agency, the seminar was attended by a number of high-ranking government officials, leading body of the ministry of information and culture and scientific and cultural figures in Kabul University’s art faculty hall.
During the seminar, Acting Minister of Information and Culture Hasina Safi spoke about Ustad Behzad’s works and said that he was a great painter and artist in 15th century.
She added that Ustad Behzad had a special method and school in term of painting, the agency continued.
“Ustad Behzad was a prominent figure in the field of miniature whom works have been appreciating so far and his school has countless followers until now,” Acting Minister Safi said.
She pointed out that her ministry held the seminar following holding cultural programs on the country’s 100th independence anniversary.
The seminar is held on Sunday and will continue by Monday in Herat, she went on to say.
Afterwards, the president’s message was read out by his advisor Nabi Mesdaq which said marking Ustad Kamaluddin Behzad meant marking cultural and art values.
Meanwhile, Associate researcher Dr. Abdul Zahir Shekib, general director of Afghanistan’s academy of sciences briefed about Ustad Behzad’s position, works, school and method and called him one of the great artists of painting and miniature.
At the end, deputy minister of information and culture on cultural and art affairs Prof. Mohammad Rasul Bawary while appreciating the participants for their presence in the seminar said that the second day of seminar would continue in Herat on Monday.
Ustad Kamaluddin Behzad was born in 1455 in Herat and passed away in that city in 1535.
