KABUL: A statement from the Presidential Palace received by The Kabul Times said Friday that President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and his US counterpart Donald Trump discussed war on terror and congratulated Daesh defeat in Afghanistan east.
Both sides emphasized that if the Taliban were sincere in their commitment to reach a peace deal, they should accept ceasefire and ‘If we want a lasting peace restored in Afghanistan, then terrorists’ hideouts should be dismantled outside the country,’ said the statement.
Later, both presidents appeared among the US troops at the Bagram Airport and during their speeches, praised the devotion of American troops and the Afghan security and defense forces in fighting terrorism, the statement added.
Both leaders also called the two countries’ forces effort successful and eye-catching in defeating enemy, particularly Daesh in Afghanistan, said the statement.
