FARAH: The country’s security and defense forces launched a series of operation and eliminated 13 of the Taliban militants’ strongholds in western province of Farah, a local official said Saturday.
The special operation was conducted late on Friday in Nawabad and Dasta Gul villages of Pashtunkot district, destroying 13 of the outfit’s heavily fortified strongholds, Muhibullah Muhib the provincial police spokesman said in a statement released to media.
According to the spokesman, three roadsides mines hidden by the militants to target security forces, have also been detected and defused during the operation.
Militants fighting government forces in the region have not commented on the incident.
