KABUL: Acting Minister of Information and Culture Mohammad Tahir Zuhair met with the Turkmen Ambassador to Kabul, Bakhtar Information Agency reported Wednesday.
Both sides discussed the reconstruction of the tomb of Sultan Husain Bayeqra and the construction of a Timurid-era museum, the agency said. According to the agency , the meeting was also attended by Eng. Abdul Ahad Abbasi, Director of Historical Monuments, Mohammad Fahim Rahimi, Director of the National Museum, and Abdul Muqeem Afghan, Director of Policy and Planning of the Ministry of Information and Culture.
At the meeting, Acting Minister of Information and Culture asked Turkmen cooperation in building a Timurid-era museum in the ancient city of Herat.
Also, the Turkmen ambassador expressed his country’s interest in rebuilding and restoring the tomb of Sultan Husain Bayeqra and stressed that they would work on the project in coordination with the Ministry of Information and Culture, the agency added.
Regarding the construction of a museum during the Timurid period, the ambassador noted that after sharing the issue with his country’s authorities, they will also cooperate in this field. At the end, both sides stressed the need for the expansion of cultural cooperation between the two countries and signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in this field, the agency concluded.
