KABUL: Officials from Afghanistan, India and Iran agreed to finalize a protocol to harmonies transit, roads, customs and consular matters via Chabahar port, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.
At its second meeting, the Follow-up Committee reviewed implementation of the trilateral Chabahar Agreement, the statement added. The three countries hailed steady progress in port operations by the India Ports Global Ltd since it took over operations at the Shaheed Beheshti Port in Chabahar in December 2018.
More than five lakh tons of cargo, including exports from Afghanistan through Chabahar Port, had been handled successfully, the MEA said.
A study will be conducted by India’s Federation of Freight Forwarders’ Associations in India (FFFAI) to streamline cargo transit through the Chabahar port.
