KABUL: Taliban’s top commander has been killed during a security forces operation in Maidan-Wardak-Kabul road, a statement said yesterday. The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said in a statement that top Taliban commander, Awal Khan, was killed along with two associates on Friday night when they wanted to enter Kabul’s Paghman district from Maidan-Wardak province.
According to the ministry, Awal Khan, wanted to come from Maidan Wardak province to conduct attacks against the security forces in Kabul.
Separately, a statement from the ministry said police had defused a motorcycle bomb and 10 landmines in five provinces of the country.
The militants wanted to detonate the motorcycle-bomb in Khost City and the other devices in Ismailkhel district. But the bombs were defused.
