KABUL: The US-Taliban peace agreement, signed in Doha last year, is still under review, says a State Department official.
Zed Tarar, Urdu spokesperson for the US State Department, said in an interview that the Biden administration was still reviewing the pact.
Pakistani TV channel Geo News quoted Tarar as underlining Pakistan’s role in making the Afghan peace process a success.
“It would be difficult to establish peace in Afghanistan without (support from) Pakistan,” said Tarar, who hoped for a peaceful future for the Afghan people.
He maintained Pakistan’s role in the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan or on other issues related to peace was “very important”.
