Masoud Andarabi, Interior Minister says the Taliban have kept up a close relationship with “international terrorists” despite having promised to cut ties with terrorist groups including al-Qaeda.
Interior Minister Masoud Andarabi on Sunday said that the Taliban have not yet severed ties with “international terrorism” despite the US-Taliban agreement in Doha.
During his visit to Kandahar province where clashes have escalated in the recent months, Andarabi said that the Taliban have not fulfilled their promise and kept relation with Al-Qaeda and other “terrorist groups”.
He also added that foreign fighters affiliated with the Taliban are fighting in the battlefields, in an operation in Arghandab of Kandahar commandos have witnessed foreign fighters alongside the Taliban, and observed the tactics the Taliban used in digging tunnels, planting mines all indicate their relations with international terrorism.
This comes as parliament speaker, Mir Rahman Rahmani on his three-day visit to Tajikistan on Sunday said that extreme level of violence and Taliban arrangements and provisions for the battle in the upcoming warm seasons shattered hopes for peace.
Taliban’s disinterest for peace will never allow the collapse of the government system nor will allow gains of two decades to be wasted.
While maintaining the republic system the government is ready for any type of negotiations as Afghans are waiting for peace but unfortunately are sure when it will be ensured, Rahmani said.
Rahmani noted that violence is increasing and the Taliban are not having plans for peace while Afghan negotiators await the group to come to the table, it has been one and a half months that they are running away from the talks.
Afghan ambassador during the conference said terrorism is not the product of Afghanistan and the Taliban’s continued violence is against the demands of Muslim countries.
He expressed that Afghanistan will never again allow unknown individuals to set directions for it and take it towards division.
