بندر چابهار

After opening of the Chabahar port, export and import has been taken place only once between India and Afghanistan.
Afghanistan has exports through the Chabahar port to India and some South Asian countries through the sea, but has only imported and exported from the port to these countries once and for all.
Khanjan Alokozai, deputy director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries told media that there are still some problems with exports and imports to India through the Chabahar port.
He added that there are no technical facilities available, no scanners, there are difficult conditions on merchandizes’ proceeding and the commitments made by Iran, India and Afghanistan have yet to be practiced.
According to him, about 800 tons of Afghanistan’s products were exported to India via the Chabahar port, and about 300 tons of materials were imported from India to Afghanistan, but after that, Afghan traders did not use the port.
The Chabahar port between Afghanistan and India was one of the business plans of Kabul, Delhi and Tehran, which was opened by officials of the three countries last year.
Afghanistan’s products were exported to India through Nimroz province for the first time, most of which were the products from the western provinces of Afghanistan.
Nasrullah Zahir, director of the Kandahar Chamber of Commerce says that the export items of Afghanistan are not as much as to be consecutively exported through the Chabahar port.
He added the fresh and dried fruits have their season, there will not be any problems on dried fruits, but the big problem is that we can’t export our merchandizes to India by a big ship.
Likewise, he pointed out that a ship could carry between 6 and 16,000 tons of goods and exporters are obliged to pay for it.
Obaidullah, Nimruz Head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries says that there is no problem in Afghanistan’s exporting to India through the Chabahar port, but according to him, there are international problems on the Iranian seaway.
He added efforts are being made by Iran and Afghanistan and the problems might be solved in upcoming days.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industries of Afghanistan says that three governments are involved on Chabahar port and they are committed to keep the port permanently active.

The ministry’s spokesperson Samir Rasa said that Afghan businessmen can share their problems with them.
He added the Afghan government has provided facilities to traders.
Trade between Afghanistan and India was already carried out through the Pakistani Wagah port, through which Afghan traders had some times been facing problems.
Considering this problem, the government of Afghanistan has always made effort to bolster trade ties with neighboring and regional countries.
Economic experts believe that there should be some small ships to transfer Afghan traders’ merchandizes to other countries.
