Short introduction of Sayed Jamaluddin Afghan


Born in 1838 in Shergal, Safdargol or Safdargat village which is now known as Asadabad, the provincial capital of Kunar province, Sayed Jamaluddin Afghan was s/o Sayed Safdar who was one of scholars of his time with highest spiritual qualities. His father was a respectable dignitary in the court of Amir Dost Mohammad Khan and later during the reign of his successor with regular salary. Sayed Safdar was one of the most influentials in Amir Court.
In 1225 H.Q his father came to Kabul while Sayed Jamaluddin was 8 years old and started to learn knowledge in Kabul including etymology, maths, literature, interpretation, Hadith, History, medicine, logic, geometry and philosophy.
At present the graves of his ancestors exist in Duthi area Sarkano district which is called as Sadat village. The dynasty of his ancestors reaches to Sayed Ali Termezi who is called as Ghawsul azam Dastagir and depends to grand family of Hazrat Emam Hussein (MGBPWH).
Sayed Ali Termezi is author of a Hadith book.
Sayed Jamaluddin family origins in Sadat of Kunar province who are called as Pachasaheban and have plenty of followers and enthusiasts. Even the then rulers and kings had gone to their home, respected them and attached high importance to them.
Sayed Mahmood Pacha and Pacha Saheban of Islam poor, Nangarhar also were connected to this family.
His father was his first teacher but Sayed Jamaluddin competence and erudition promoted higher than his father and his father failed to convince him in some religious and philosophycal issues. Sayed learned Arabic and had few students including his son of cousin Sayed Hadi. Sayed was an active person with good memories and decided to travel to India to learn sciences and later he went to Mecca. In 185 AD once he returned to Kabul. In 1863 AD Amir Dost Mohammad Khan passed away and Amir Sher Ali Khan became king of Afghanistan and Sayed opened his way into his court. When Sayed was in Kabul, he established “Kabul Magazine”. But today we have no access to it.
Sayed adviced Amir Sher Ali Khan to publish Shamsunnahar newspaper in four pages which was printed in Balahisar Sangi Printing Press and Amir started work on government structure and a modern cabinet and as a result Sayed Noor Mohammad Shah Khan was appointed as Prime Minister, Esmatullah Khan Gheljayee as minister of interior, Hussein Ali Khan Panjsheri as general military commander, Mohammad Hussein Khan as chief of royal court Secretariat, Mohammad Ali Jaghatayee as chief treasurer and Habibullah Khan Wardak as minister of finance. Later on he established a school in Kabul with 300 students mostly sons of Royal family members Sardars and teaching took place in school in both Dari and Pashto languages and European and Indian books were translated by a teacher known as Qader. A tailor house was setup for Army and a Cavalry group was setup and veterinary doctors were trained for houses.
One hospital was also established in Kabul. The Army was including 51990 troops and were organized in units in the capital and provinces. Militia soldiers and artillery were excluded from the army. Intelligence was led by Nikonam. 6000 workers were employed in Sherpoor and Bibimehro headquarters. The country was progressing step by step under the consultation of Sayed jamaluddin.
Then Sayed Jamaluddin traveled to Iran, Turkey, Egypt and other territories and learned modern sciences.
Ultimately he died in Istanbul and was buried there but in 1937 AD his body and coffin were shifted to Afghanistan and laid in rest inside the compass of Kabul University.
