ASADABAD: Local officials on Saturday said Taliban and Daesh or so-called Islamic State (IS) insurgents engaged in a fight with each other in eastern Kunar province, causing casualties to both sides.
A statement from Silab Military Corps in the eastsaid that Taliban and Daesh clashed in Wattapor district of Kunar late on Friday.The source said four Taliban fighters and as many Daesh insurgents were killed and scores others wounded in the incident.
A child was also killed, and a nomad kid wounded in the battle, the statement added.
On the other hand, Silab Military Corps said that nine Daesh insurgents were killed during airstrikes in Khogyani district of Nangarhar and Ghaziabad district of Kunar last night.
However, Kunar police said they were unaware about Taliban and Daesh fight.
Faridullah Dehqan, police spokesman, said that foreign forces killed a person and arrested six others who allegedly had links with Daesh during an operation in Wattapor district on Friday night.
No any insurgent groups have so far commented on these incidents.
