KABUL: Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah met with Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Secretary General, Vladimir Norov, on the sideline of SCO council of heads of government meeting in Tashkent on Friday afternoon, a statement from the Chief Executive Press office told The Kabul Times.
Congratulating successful holding of presidential election, SG Norov said Afghanistan was of immense important for SCO and reiterated his support of Afghanistan’s full membership of the organization, the statement added.
He went on saying that the organization was supporting Afghanistan’s efforts for peace and reiterated SCO’s full cooperation with Afghanistan in different spheres, according to the statement.
Thanking SCO Secretary General, Dr. Abdullah briefed him of Afghanistan’s situation and the need for regional cooperation. He said Afghans were in favor of peace.
Dr. Abdullah welcomed SG Norov’s support of Afghanistan full membership in SCO, calling peace and security in Afghanistan indeed peace and security in the region, the statement added.
