KABUL: Acting Minister of Information and Culture, Hasina Safi in a meeting with head of Turkish TIKA Institution, said that safeguarding the Afghan national and Islamic culture was in fact a safeguard to the national identity, Bakhtar News Agency said Saturday.
During the meeting, Ali Orgun Chenar, head of the institution provided details about the works of the institution in the fields of culture, education, health and capacity building in some provinces since its establishment in 2004 in Afghanistan, the agency quoted.
He also expressed readiness for restoration of the historical monuments and holding of joint cultural programs in Afghanistan, according to the agency.
The country’s minister of information and culture noted: “Safeguarding Afghan national and Islamic culture was in fact a safeguard to the national identity.”
She said that Afghanistan has various cultures and preservation and promotion of these cultures were the responsibility of the entire people of Afghanistan, particularly of the young and future generations. Minister Safi said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to help strengthen such cooperation, would be signed soon between the two countries, the agency said.
