Roadside bomb kills four civilians in Helmand

KABUL: At least four civilians were killed when their car hit a roadside bomb in Afghanistan’s southern Helmand province on Tuesday, officials said.
Two more civilians were wounded in the blast which happened at Fazluddin square in Nawa district, the provincial governor’s office said in a statement.
The statement suggested that the bomb had been placed by the Taliban. The group has yet to make comment.
The violence comes nearly a week after the United Nations said that civilian deaths in Afghanistan conflict increased by five percent in the first nine months of 2018 as compared to the same period last year.
Based on a report by the world body, as many as 2,798 civilians were killed while 5,252 more were injured in the conflict.
Nearly half of all civilian casualties were caused by bombs, according to the report.
