KABUL: In a meeting with the US senators, late on yesterday, the country’s President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said that Afghanistan has accessed to great achievements with the help of the international community, since 2001 and that ‘our demand from the international community is to change their politics into trade relations with Afghanistan, a statement from Arg said Friday.
The president said the government and the people of Afghanistan were committed to the continuation of the republican system and achieving a lasting peace which was led and owned by the government of Afghanistan and a peace to result in the end of war, the statement quoted. “Our conditions for the peace process are clear; preserving republican system and the citizenship rights of the people of Afghanistan are our redline,” said the statement quoting the president.
Meanwhile, the US visiting senators said that Afghanistan underwent many years in war and conflicts and that they want an end to war and restoration of a peace based on the willing of the people of Afghanistan.
“Peace which is imposed on the people of Afghanistan and risks the last 18 years of achievements, is not acceptable for us and that peace efforts would go in vain if the government of Afghanistan was the pivot,” said the US senators as quoted by the statement.
