KABUL: President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani Accompanied by NSA Hamdullah Mohib and Acting Minister of Information and Culture Hasina Safi, has completed his visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan yesterday. At the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani was seen off by Azerbaijan‘s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ramiz Hasanov and other officials, according to Azar News Agency.
President Ghani had earlier addressed the 8th Summit of Heads of States and Governments of the Non-Aligned Movement, in Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan on Friday. Addressing the summit, President Ghani said the threat of terrorism required different types of coordination and cooperation, adding the country is fully committed to peace and he does not want its territory to be used for the transit of illegal goods.
President Ghani also expressed gratitude to the United States for the assistance in the fight against terrorism.
The president also met a number of regional leaders and representatives in Baku, including Pakistan, Azerbaijan presidents, prime minister of Malaysia, deputy prime minister of Kuwait and Vice president of India. The president briefed them of the country’s determination for durable peace, regional connectivity and Afghan forces progress in war on terror, the presidential press office said.
