KABUL: Addressing a ceremony at the presidential palace yesterday, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani thanked People’s Republic of China for donation of 700,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines, a statement said.
Referring to the expansion of Afghanistan-China, in various fields, especially economic, trade and transit relations, the President, as quoted in presidential palace statement, said that the situation of the country’s health sector is better than the last two waves of the Corona virus, adding that people’s trust on health sector and doctors have increased and the health sector has the full support of the presidential office.
Concluding his speech, the President said that the people of Afghanistan showed their capacity and capability in three waves of coronavirus and instructed the Governor of Kabul to involve the private sector more in the fight against pandemic.
The Acting Minister of Public Health thanked the President for his support to the Afghan health system, as well as People’s Republic of China, for providing 700,000 doses of vaccine and other medical supplies worth $5 million.
The Chinese Ambassador also assured his country’s further assistance to Afghanistan in fight against the coronavirus and reiterated support for the peace process, hoping lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan.
