KABUL: Chairing an extraordinary security meeting here at the presidential palace yesterday, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani reviewed security situation of the northern provinces, according to a presidential palace statement.
While reviewing the general security situation in the north of the country which was also attended by Marshal Dostum, the meeting praised the performances of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) as well as discussed recruitment of the armed forces and their equipment, the statement added.
The meeting comes after former first vice president Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum met with President Ghani on last Monday after more than 24 months.
During the meeting Dostum briefed President Ghani of the security conditions in northern provinces, he added that practical plans are required for the clearance of Faryab-Mazar and Kunduz-Kabul Highways from the insurgent groups. President Ghani welcomed Dostum’s security plans and called for the implementation of the discussed ideas.
