President Ghani reviews construction projects in eastern Kabul

President Ghani chairing meeting on construction projects in eastern Kabul

KABUL: In a meeting held at the Presidential Palace and attended by Kabul Municipality deputy and head of Capital Region Independent Development Authority (CRIDA), President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani spoke about construction projects in eastern Kabul, his office said in a statement on Sunday.
At the outset, Kabul Municipality deputy Shuaib Rahim said focus on eastern Kabul have been increased and work on acquisition section of Orphani road is ongoing and coordination has been established with Land Authority for related area’s acquisition and an alternative for that, the statement further said.
He also briefed the session about the road’s capacity and design, urban design, timetable for the road’s construction, acquisition capacity, alternative area and coordination among the concerned administrations.
Kabul Municipality deputy and head of CRIDA also presented information about the current and future situation of eastern Kabul that includes road, canal and Park, the statement added.
After hearing their information, President Ghani thanked Kabul Municipality and CRIDA plans and instructed them to prepare a clear map on Dasht-e-Barchi area along with suggesting roads and the number of houses that would go to acquisition.
He added that white and government areas to be included in the map so decisions are taken in consultation with people.
The president instructed the Kabul Municipality to clarify the specific date of Orphani road construction, the project and contractor companies’ management at its earliest.
He said, “I want acceleration in the projects’ implementation, because, the people should practically see the results of my promises.”
