KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with members of Provincial Councils’ Coordination Body at Chahar Chenar palace on Sunday.
In the meeting, head of Zabul provincial council Ata Mohammad Haqbayan and head of Parwan provincial council Ghulam Bahauddin Jailani, representing others, spoke and declared their support from the government’s programs, presidential elections and peace program of the country’s President.
Sharing problems of their constitutes and home provinces with the country’s President, they asked for further attention to security of members of provincial councils, saying that ministries and government institutions should increase their cooperation and coordination with PC members to address problems of the people.
They asserted that they had always made efforts for consolidation of the system, maintaining of security and stability, rule of law and addressing of people’s problems, assuring of any sacrifices in this regard.
Afterwards, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani spoke and congratulated generational change and active role of women in provincial councils, instructed relevant organs for attention to security and safety of members of provincial councils.
Stressing on addressing of problems of the people, the country’s President said that 82 members of the provincial councils who have resigned could return their job if they faced no legal issue.
He said attention to strengthening local governance was being increased and new structures were being built in this regard. The president called for effective management of development projects in provinces.
