President Ghani meets EU, UK Ambassadors, discusses new chapter of cooperation

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with EU Ambassador to Afghanistan here at the presidential palace on Thursday afternoon, a statement said yesterday.

In the meeting, both sides discussed the Afghan peace process, the new chapter of cooperation after the withdrawal of international forces and the role of EU member states considering new chapter of cooperation in various fields, especially development projects, the presidential palace statement added.

According to another statement, President Ghani met with Alison Blake, Ambassador of UK to Afghanistan on Thursday morning at the Presidential Palace and discussed the UK’s enduring support for the Afghan Defense and Security forces.

The two sides also talked over the UK’s role on building regional consensus around the peace process and ensuring stability in Afghanistan as well as adopting political solutions and mechanisms to achieve the end state of a sovereign, democratic and neutral Afghanistan.
