President Ghani meets Afghans living in Tajikistan

KABUL: The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, met with a number of Afghans living in Tajikistan, at the Afghan Embassy in Dushanbe, the neighboring country’s capital, a statement from the Presidential Palace said Wednesday.
At the outset, the country’s Ambassador to Tajikistan Mohammad Zahir Aghbar spoke and welcomed the President and his accompanying delegation and briefed on the activities and achievements of the embassy, the statement said.
A number of other participants also spoke about the related issues including a warm welcome to the country’s president for the inauguration of Kamal Khan Dam, said the statement.
They also shared their demands and suggestions with the president in various fields, including the preservation of the achievements of the past two decades and the republic system in the peace process and paying more attention to immigrants and educating the youth residing in the Tajikistan.
The country’s president after listening to their suggestions, said: “I am proud to be with you today.” He added that we want lasting and dignified peace, we sacrifice in the way of peace, but this should not lead to the destruction of Afghanistan. My principle is the constitution and my oath of allegiance to the people of Afghanistan.”
“We want to end the 42-year war in Afghanistan.
The roadmap for peace has been prepared and we will reach peace, God willing,” the president said thanking the Tajik leader for his speech at the 9th Conference on the Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process, and his support to the peace process and the expansion of relations between the two countries,” the statement qouted.
The president added that each of the Afghans living in Tajikistan, was the representative of Afghanistan and today Afghanistan was trusted by the region.
The president noted that Samanian School would be provided with text-books for three days, by Shir Baz Kaminzadeh, head of the Chamber of Industries and Mines.
The president also instructed the relevant departments to solve the problems of the Samanian School, reduce in the price of passports in Tajikistan and increase in the salaries of Afghan students.
