President Ghani issues necessary instructions

KABUL: Chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, a meeting was held the other day to review problems of kochis.
In the meeting held at presidential palace, relevant officials delivered their report related to problems facing kochis and nomads and ways for solution of their problems.
After hearing their report, President Mohammad Ashraf said that kochis were not only a segment of this society but a national unit symbol, adding that all efforts should be made towards changing them from nomadity to economic industry.
“Dimensions of kochis life should change and coordinated meetings should be held to address all issues relevant to them.
In connection with addressing problems of kochis, the constitution’s articles relevant to nomads should be implemented and ways should be paved to balanced development,” the country’s President said.
In connection with addressing problems of kochis, President Ghani instructed that a coordinating committee on kochis affairs should be created with membership of deputy ministers and leadership of general directorate for coordination of kochis affairs, adding that the ministry of finance should provide particular budget to each relevant section.
The country’s President also instructed that a national program should be implemented for kochis and their problems in connection with irrigation, industrial, education and higher education should be addressed as well.
Meanwhile, the ministry of public health was instructed to pay particular attention to health sector in particular prevention of mother and child mortalities.
In his speech, the country’s President said that national statistics and information authority should launch survey for kochis population.
