KABUL: President Ashraf Ghani in a meeting with heads of Afghan media accompanying him to Doha addressed their questions pertaining to peace process, Afghanistan’s future, end of war, ceasefire, Taliban’s inflexibility, government reforms, his eminent meeting with the Emir of Qatar and possible issues of discussion, and overall purposes of his visit to Qatar.
President Ghani highlighted multiple aspects of peace including peace-making and peace-building and said, “Peace is a critical issue for us.”
The president said the negotiating delegation is moving the process forward in line with the limits and authorities set for them and in accordance with the Afghanistan Constitution and the declaration of Consultative Peace Jirga.
“We put any possible efforts in place to end the several decades of war in Afghanistan and help the people live in dignity and peace,” added the president.
President Ghani stressed that the country’s democratic system will be incomplete in absence of the Afghanistan Constitution.
First Vice President Amrullah Saleh termed Afghanistan a pluralistic society and said there is no doubt that the GoIRA’s negotiating delegation has the sufficient capacity, commitment and determination to move the process forward.
