President Ghani hails Saudi, OIC support of Afghan peace process

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in a meeting yesterday with members of Afghanistan ulema council and High Peace Council (HPC) heard their report and developments in peace process.
In the meeting held at presidential palace, head of Afghanistan ulema council Mawlavi Qayamuddin Kashaf said: “By blessing of your efforts in peace process, ulemas of the Islamic world have accepted the justified voice of Afghanistan ulamas and called ongoing war, suicide bombing and explosion as illegal and Haram.”
He stressed on acceleration and continued efforts for maintaining peace in the country.
Deputy of high peace council Mawlavi Ataur Rahman Saleem briefed related to ‘International Conference of Muslim Scholars on Peace and Stability in Afghanistan’ held in Saudi Arabia with participation of scholars and ulemas of 33 Islamic countries, saying that the conference informed ulemas of the Islamic world of situation and facts regarding Afghanistan.
Mawlavi Saleem suggested for following up items of Muslim scholars’ fatwas, invitation of OIC General Secretary to Afghanistan, dispatching delegations of Afghanistan ulamas to Islamic countries and attention to security of ulemas, mosques and madrasas.
After hearing reports and briefings of participants, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani praised the country’s ulemas for their efforts towards peace and said by blessing of Afghanistan ulamas council, the country’s religious ulamas have got united, adding that media has described independency of religious ulamas and their powerful logic to the people.
“As a result of three years’ work with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia has changed to key and strategic partner of Afghanistan in peace sector and we want the country to be cooperative with us in implementation and maintaining of peace too,” President Ghani asserted.
The country’s President further said that currently consensus made among Islamic world in connection with Afghanistan peace and raising of peace voice from the home of Allah was key and effective.
President Ghani added their partnership with ulamas was not only for maintaining peace in the country but also for building society, consolidation of stability and continued partnership as role of ulamas in our society was more than others.
The country’s President praised King of Saudi Arabia, OIC Secretary General and scholars of the Islamic world for their support and position, instructing head of HPC secretariat for following up suggestions of ulamas of the Islamic world and specification of upcoming plan.
