President Ghani hails ANDSF for keeping Afghanistan’s flag hoisted

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani attended and addressed an event marking the National Day of Flag at the Presidential Palace yesterday, a statement said.
Addressing the event which was organized by a number of youth, presidential advisor Abdul Rasheed Ayoubi thanked the president for naming Asad 7th (July 29th) after the country’s flag, saying the national flag would be taken from Dehmazang square to Darulaman Palace during a special ceremony, the presidential press office statement added. Thanking youth’s initiative, the president said the flag’s history goes to the then Yama King and had been called with different names in the course of history. Hinting to three colors of the national flag, the president said black color was the symbol for dark days, red one shows blood and the people’s struggle and would never allow anyone to take our country back to dark days. The president also said that the green color was showing greenery and development. Praising the country’s national defense and security forces for their bravery and sacrifices to keep hoisted the flag, the president said would strongly defend the country together with the people. “Everything would be possible when there is commitment. Construction of Darulaman Palace shows our strong will,” he added.
