KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Heiko Maas, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany spoke by phone yesterday afternoon and discussed efforts to slow down the spread of covid-19, political matters and the Afghan peace process. President Ashraf Ghani expressed sadness over the loss of lives in Germany caused by spread of the covid-19 pandemic, the presidential statement quoted. Heiko Maas extended congratulation to President Ghani on his re-election and expressed his country’s readiness to help Afghanistan fight coronavirus spread. He added Germany welcomes announcement of the inclusive peace negotiating delegation of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and continues its support for Afghanistan peace process, the statement added.
