KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in a message has congratulated National Journalist Day to all journalists, especially those digging up information doing justice to their job in difficult situation. In the message, the country’s President offered condolence to the family of martyred journalists.
“The government is committed to freedom of expression and media as the government has made continued efforts towards maintaining security of media operations and protection of this value as well as addressing problems by creating joint committee of the government and media, creating journalists support fund, ratification of law on access to information, creating of commission on access to information and addressing 126 cases of violence against journalists,” the message said.
In his message, the country’s President urged journalists to prevent the enemy propaganda by focusing on highlighting facts. Restrictions in journalists were intolerable, he concluded.
”I call upon all the committed journalists to help each other as responsible Afghans and highlight the situation in their country and transmit the real image of today’s Afghanistan,” President GHani added added. In his message, the country’s President added that any kind of violence against journalists was intolerable and perpetrators would be punished.
