KABUL: The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, conferred second-highest state-medals on 16 members of Kabul’s 1st Police District Sunday morning, at the sideline of 6:30 a.m. security meeting held at the Chaharchenar Palace.
At the outset, Rezwan Murad, Head of Public Relations of the First Vice-President, read out the President’s decree on handing over medals to the security personnel in recognition of their illustrious services for promoting security in the related district, said the statement received by The Kabul Times.
“The officials, who have performed their duties with courage and honesty, will be awarded medals in order to appreciate their works,” said the statement referring to the country’s president decree.
After the award of the medals to the officials by the country’s president, First Vice-President, Amrullah Saleh, speaking about the achievements of 6: 30 a.m. sessions, said that the pursuit of commitments has become a principle and as a result of continuous efforts, the crime graph in the Kabul City has vitnessed an unprecedented decline and public satisfaction with government services has risen sharply, the statement quoted.
The country’s president praised the achievements of the 6:3 a.m. sessions saying: “You have made positive changes as a result of grouping management, that you have the capacity to continue, and that I strongly support you.” Referring to the announcement of the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, President Ghani said that this was the first time in the modern history that all opportunities were provided for Afghanistan.
“We have been fully prepared for two years and have comprehensive plan for their departure.” The president said that the country’s security and defense forces were fully prepared to protect the country and that it was time for the national sovereignty of Afghanistan to be fully implemented and Afghanistan to prove its neutrality, said the statement.
The statement quote President Ghani as saying that in one line, there is the republic and the other line is the enemy, those who do not stand in the line of the republic are no longer in the government and the Taliban have never had religious legitimacy because of the continuation of the war, and also the consensus of the religious scholars in the Islamic world has called the war in Afghanistan illegitimate. Referring to the review of regional relations with Afghanistan, the president said: “Today is the day of decision for Pakistan, if our country is insecure, that country will also be uneasy and if you want our comfort, you will remain comfort too.
The choice of friendship and enmity is in your hands. If Pakistan chooses friendship, Afghanistan is ready to cooperate with Pakistan by increasing cooperation between the regional and world countries.”
“Our vision is sovereignty, republic, democracy, free and independent Afghanistan and if the Taliban want peace within this framework, our arms are open, otherwise the choice of war and its continuation is an excuse by the Taliban. We are not afraid people, but we have a strong will,” concluded the statement quoting the president.
