KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani condoled the demise of Kuwait Amir, who passed away due to an illness the other day, a statement said.
“I am deeply saddened by passing of His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait. The Late Emir was a towering and unparalleled personality of the Islamic World and a good friend of Afghanistan, who had always expressed a gesture of goodwill to Afghanistan for deepening fraternal and friendly ties between Afghanistan and Kuwait,” the statement from the presidential press office said yesterday.
“His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah served with dedication for development, progress and prosperity of his nation during his tenure as the Emir of Kuwait. I am confident the great nation of Kuwait will always remember his services and honor his legacy,” the statement further said.
The statement quoted the president saying: “I share the nation of Kuwait’s grief at this moment of tragedy and convey my deepest sympathies to the family of the Emir, and the State and people of Kuwait on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.”
