KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani extended condolences over demise of former Awami National Party (ANP) provincial president Begum Naseem Wali Khan who died on Sunday. “I am saddened by the death of Begum Naseem Wali Khan, the leader of the women’s and Khudai Khidmatgar movements in Pakhtunkhwa and former leader of the Awami National Party,” the president said in a tweet yesterday, extending his condolences to Asfandyar Wali khan, ANP president and his family on behalf of Afghan people and government.
Begum Naseem Wali Khan was the widow of ANP leader Abdul Wali Khan.
The deceased was suffering from diabetes and heart ailments, said the family sources.
A veteran politician, Wali had gotten elected to the provincial assembly three times in the past.
