President Ghani chairs supreme commander of armed forces meeting

KABUL: Chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the supreme commander of armed forces meeting was held at Presidential Palace the other day.
In the meeting, chief of general staff of the army forces Gen. Mohammad Yasin Zia and senior deputy minister of security for interior Gen. Abdul Saboor Qani briefed related to their recent visits to north eastern provinces of the country, overall security situation, assessment of enemy’s threats level, programs for addressing threats of the enemy and coordination of program between ANDSF.
Briefing also related to their programs particularly in connection with addressing the enemy’s activities and maintaining security of highways in Kunduz, Takhar and Baghlan, they said all security threats posed by enemies in the respective provinces have been addressed and military operations were underway to address the rest of security threats.
In the meeting, overall security situation and coordination between officials of the country’s defense and security organs were also reviewed and discussed.
Afterwards, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani offered his condolence to the family of martyred Col. Mohammad Wura Andarabi, security chief for Baghlan police command and praised his bravery in defending the country, instructing acting minister of interior to deliver his suggestion in connection with promotion of Martyred Mohammad Wura Andarabi.
Pointing to repulsing enemy’s attacks by ANDSF, President Ghani said the capability of the country’s defense and security forces have increased, adding that he was proud of capability and coordination between the ANDSF organs that have resulted in foiling enemy’s vicious plans and programs in various parts of the country.
The country’s President tasked security officials to pay particular attention to security of the country’s highways so that people could travel without any problem, adding that addressing concerns of the people was the responsibility of Afghan security forces. President Ghani also tasked the country’s defense and security forces to pay serious attention to security of villages as Taliban has taken war to villages in which people were suffering the war. The country’s President also instructed the country’s defense and security officials to take serious actions against armed irresponsible individuals and usurpers of lands and powerful figures.
