President Ghani chairs Rule of Law & Anti-corruption High Council meeting

KABUL: Chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the rule of law and anti-corruption high council’s meeting was held yesterday at Presidential Palace.
In the meeting, first the country’s attorney general Mohammad Farid Hamidi delivered execution draft of presidential decrees issued in connection with reduction, punishments and pardon of prisoners.
Hamidi said that new discussions have been added for remission and forgiving of prisoners in the respective draft and attorney general office should be the sole institution for exercising decrees of the President.
He asked for increasing structures in the respective office so the process of working executions and implementing timely decrees should be accelerated.
Welcoming the respective draft, chief executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah said that such drafts were used in other countries.
Second Vice President Sarwar Danesh by praising the draft said that increasing of occasions for remission and forgiveness of prisoners should be reviewed.
Nadir Nadiri, head of independent administrative reforms and ciivl services commission, considered increasing of structures in attorney general office as acceptable.
After overall discussions, the high rule of law and anti-corruption council approved the draft in Principe and stressed that visions of relevant institutions and civil society organizations should be included for boosting the draft.
In second part of the meeting’s agenda, director of properties registration and assessment authority Nahid Isar delivered development report of registration of government high-ranking officials’ properties, goals, achievements and challenges facing the authority. She added that work modality of the process has accelerated after the job was submitted to general directorate of administrative affairs.
Welcoming the acceleration process of registration of the government high-ranking officials’ properties, the country’s President stressed on continuation of the process.
Meanwhile, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in the meeting instructed ministry of telecommunications and information technology to cooperate with general directorate of administrative affairs in creating a database and instructed land authority to cooperate in specification of the high-ranking officials’ lands.
