President Ghani chairs cabinet meeting

KABUL: Chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, cabinet meeting was held the other day at presidential palace.
In the meeting, President Ghani first commended the valor and bravery of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) in eliminating an al Qaeda threat. The Afghan forces killed Asem Omar, chief of al Qaeda in the Indian Sub-Continent (AQIS) who was fighting alongside the Talilban in Musa Qala of Helmand.
“Relations between Taliban and al Qaeda undeniable and killing leader and key members of the al Qaeda in Afghanistan is showing that the terrorist network is active in the country,” President Ghani said.
The country’s President said that Afghanistan government was decisive that by equipping and strengthening the country’s defense and security forces and launching such operations would prevent from activities of the terrorist network and all other terrorist groups in the country.
Meanwhile, on behalf of members of the cabinet, the country’s President offered condolence on occasion of the demise of mother of minister of borders and tribes Mohammad Shafiq Gul Agha Shirzai, wishing paradise to the deceased and patience to the remained.
Based on the meeting agenda, acting minister of urban development and land delivered (1606) m2 government land to Kunar’s Asadabad municipality for construction of precious stone processing market and exhibition, which was approved by the cabinet meeting.
Meanwhile, acting minister of urban development and land delivered suggestion for acquisition of (1600) m2 land belonging to the Islamic Republic of Iran in Herat in exchange of (2248) m2 land in Darul Aman area and (36,900) m2 land in locality of Kabul’s Shahr-e-Naw, which was approved by cabinet.
Afterwards, Afghanistan national trade policy relating to (2019 – 2023) was delivered by deputy of private development sector and industries for commerce and industry, which was approved by the cabinet.
At the end of the meeting, seven international agreements were delivered by deputy minister of political affairs for foreign affairs to the meeting and were approved by the cabinet meeting.
