President Ghani assures Kabul residents of some districts to duly meet their problems

KABUL: Following the national debate, the country’s president, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has met with a number of Kabul residents of third and 14th as well as of Paghman district and assured them of doing all efforts to meet their problems, a statement from the Presidential Palace said Tuesday.
After hearing the problems of the representatives of the residents during the meeting held at the Salam Khana Palace, the statement quoted the country’s president as saying that the government was committed to tackle all problems of the resident and help their lands retaken from the strongmen and that all irresponsible behaviors would be controlled.
The powerful individuals, strongmen and irresponsible individuals’ violation of the law and grabbing lands, as well as education related problems, construction of mosques, ensuring transportation system, giving the religious scholars role in peace process and other important issues have been discussed with the president, according to the statement.
The president said: “Your voice is expressive, clear and transparent and the government would do all its best to tackle your problems with the available possibilities.”
The president said that he was left with the legacy of the lost opportunities, but would do more to change their suggestions into a plan and share with them during the upcoming meeting expected to be held at the Loya Jirga tent, where the Kabul citizens would attend.
He said the Kabul city had its own possessor, which are only the Kabul citizens. “The Kabul city would be evacuated of all strongmen and irresponsible individuals.”
The country’s president directed the Kabul police chief to get preparation for a wide operation across the city to clear the city of the drug addicts and powerful individuals and ban drug deal market and the land grubbers would be announced travel-ban.
All grabbled lands would be returned, the president assured.
Up to $3 million is allocated for water management, water shortage problem in the capital would basically be removed with the construction of the Shahtoot dam and extending the Panjshir water to Kabul, the president pledged.
The available corruption in power would be prevented and the power distribution would also be managed in monthly form, the president added.
“I want apolitical and professional education ministry,” said the president.
Ministers, deputy ministers, directors and other government officials are the servant of the people and would be appreciated when proved efficient, but would be fired from duty, when the people expressed dissatisfaction with their works he continued.
He also said internet related problems would be removed and the price would be reduced, the scholarships would be managed in transparently.
The president directed the Kabul governor and mayor to work close with the district chiefs to tackle the problems of the residents of the said districts.
