KABUL: The Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) has held a program titled ‘Appreciation from Persons with Disabilities’.
In the program, deputy minister of art and culture for information and culture Prof. Mohammad Rasoul Bawary spoke related to causes of disabilities in the country and said the continued violence and war was the only cause of disabilities in the country.
“Disability should be introduced and persons with disabilities should be dealt with different aspects,” Prof. Bawary said, adding that a number of people have left battlefield to defend the people and country, but some died and some become disable.
Prof. Bawary further said that they should be praised and dealt with kindness, adding that persons with disabilities should be cooperated in society.
Afterwards, Omara Khan, senior advisor to President on persons with disabilities, also spoke related to situation of persons with disabilities in society as well as the commitment of the government to these people.
Head of human resources for information and culture Ahmad Zia Anwari then spoke related to the regulation plan for appointment of persons with disabilities in government institutions.
At the end of the program, Prof. Bawary granted letters of appreciation for a number of persons with disabilities.
Based on reports, there are more than 1 million persons with disabilities in Afghanistan.
