NUG leaders meeting NATO (RS) mission’s new commander in Afghanistan

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Sunday met with NATO Resolute Support mission’s new commander in Afghanistan Gen. Scott Miller, the Presidential Palace said in a statement.
At the outset, while congratulating new task to Gen. Miller, President Ghani thanked him of accepting this great responsibility and wished him success during his mission in Afghanistan, the statement added.
Both sides also exchanged views on priorities of Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) and US strategy on Afghanistan and south Asia and its positive results, the statement continued.
Afterwards, Gen. Miller assured the president that he would make effort on strengthening and equipping ANDSF during his new mission in Afghanistan.
According to another report Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah on Sunday met with Resolute Support (RS) new commander in Afghanistan Gen. Scott Miller, his office said in a statement.
In the meeting, congratulating the new post to NATO commander, CE Abdullah wished him success during his mission in this country, the statement further said.
CE Abdullah also expressed gratitude over the efforts made by former RS commander Gen. John Nicholson in fighting terrorism and cooperation with the Afghan security forces.
Gen. Miller assured of his country and NATO cooperation with Afghan security forces on fighting terrorism, adding he would spare no effort to restore peace in Afghanistan.
