KABUL: National Security Advisor (NSA) Hamdullah Mohib met some members of the Wolesi Jirga and top officials of the Ministry of Interior Affairs following tensions between the two sides here on Sunday evening, a statement said yesterday.
The NSA made clear that no one reserved the right to insult others and police were obliged to enforce the law, the NSA press office said.
NSA Mohib urged the interior minister and deputy minister of security affairs to ensure that the security personnel demonstrated patience and good conduct in case of issues.
The lawmakers also shared with the NSA the recent tension with security officials and some other issues. They also floated suggestions about the use of vehicles, carrying weapons and bodyguards, according to the statement.
NSA Mohib assured them of executing the proposals in accordance with the law and asked them to help Police forces in enforcing of the existed laws.
Two days back, police and lawmakers clashed over the checking of vehicles. Soon afterwards, around 70 MPs held an emergency session and summoned the interior minister.
