NPC reviews 11 contracts worth 1b Afghanis

KABUL: The National Procurement Commission (NPC) with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on the chair held meeting here on Sunday evening and reviewed 11 contracts worth one billion Afghanis, a presidential statement said yesterday.

The meeting reviewed bids for the three big projects worth 3,204 million Afghanis that included, contract for procurement of electrical equipment related to electricity of Sayed Abad district, Maidan Wardak’s province, procurement of 30 livelihood items related to logistic directorate of the Ministry of Interior and procurement of 3 kind of mini batteries related to technical and weaponry directorate of Ministry of National Defense, the statement added.

Meanwhile the meeting approved amendments to some already signed contracts, including contract of constructing surrounding wall in 5000 acres of land related to Balkh Custom Department, contract of national survey related to vegetal diseases, contract of renting 25 K9 machinery for 101 Asmayee zone and 2 kind of diary items related to Ministry of National Defense.

The meeting rejected De Afghanistan Brishna Sherkat’s (Afghanistan’s Electricity Utility Company) offer of miscellaneous and construction related items for further evaluation.

The presidential statement quoted President Ghani, saying those in charge of the projects should follow all the required procurement processes as well as overseeing mechanism for transparency in the process and avoid delay in implementation of the projects.

Besides NPC officials, observers from SIGAR, Integrity Watch Afghanistan, Wolesi Jirga’s Budget and Economic Commission,Parliamentary Anti-Corruption Caucus (PACC) and NATO’s RS mission were present at the meeting.
