KABUL: The National Procurement Commission held its extraordinary meeting with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on the chair here on Tuesday evening, Bakhtar News Agency reported yesterday.
The meeting discussed and reviewed the Independent Election Commission’s request for purchasing of 17865 biometric devices and its software, and finally approved the commission’s request worth 14.14 million euro, the agency added.
Meanwhile the Integrity Watch Afghanistan, representing other civil society organizations, shared its views regarding the transparent election process.
The session said monitoring of the democratic process was the people and civil society responsibility and they are required to monitor the implementation of the projects and the transparency in the process, the agency said.
The commission needed 39 thousand of biometric devices, where 20 thousand of which was purchased for the parliamentary elections and the remaining approved by the commission for presidential elections, the agency added.
