KABUL: Chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, National Procurement Commission’s (NPC) meeting held the other day reviewed 26 procurement contracts and as a result contracts for 21 projects worth 3.37 billion Afghanis were approved.
According to a statement released by presidential office, the meeting also reviewed the realization report regarding the decisions which were taken during the previous meetings and President Ghani once again emphasized on utilization of the Afghan firms’ facilities while reiterating the government’s support to boost the capabilities of the local companies.
The statement further added that commission approved the recommendations of the Independent Civil Aviation Authority regarding the bid for the construction of terminal compound in Khost, parking lot for aircrafts, and car parking after the objections raised by State Corps Company.
The commission also approved the recommendations of the Public Works Ministry for the extension of the contract period for the construction of 7km Kabul-Logar road (from Logar Pump Station to Chehl Dokhtaran area), the statement said, adding that the commission however returned the recommendation of the Ministry of Defense for the procurement of 186 laboratory reagents for the Chief of Staff’s Health Commandment. The Ministry of Defense was instructed to review optional ways for the contract through government-to-government contracts and share its report in other NPC meetings, ARG Palace added in its statement. The meeting also approved the Ministry of Defense’s recommendations for the purchase of coal from the local firms and firewood for the winter season.
