KABUL: Chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the meeting of National Procurement Commission (NPC) was held Monday evening at Presidential Palace.
In the meeting, 15 procurement contracts were discussed and reviewed and as a result 14 contracts worth more than 1 billion AFG were approved.
In the meeting, NPC approved the contract for rehabilitation of previous building of women‘s prison and construction of a Juvenile Education and Rehabilitation center in Kabul province, the contract for procurement of bread required by military zone of 808 of Ministry of Interior (MoI), two contracts for procurement of diesel and petrol and automobile oil required by Administrative Office of the President (AOP) and Office of Chief of Staff to the President and the contract for procurement of fan coil for Gul Khana Palace; related to Operation and Support Office of the President for National Development.
In the meeting; the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan; emphasized on the need to pave the ground for a sound and equal competition for all bidders in the procurement process; and directed all the procurement entities to make serious effort in strengthening the internal coordination among each other.
In this meeting, beside the NPC members, the officials of National Procurement Authority, the national and international observers including the Integrity Watch Afghanistan (IWA), Upper House (Mashrano Jirga), Combined Security Transition Command (CSTC-A), the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) had also participated.
