KABUL: Norway has reaffirmed its backing for an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process and continued support for Afghanistan’s development, a MoFA statement said Friday.
Acting foreign minister Hanif Atmar held a video conference with his Norwegian counterpart Ine Eriksen Søreide and both discussed various issued of mutual interest, according to the statement.
The two sides talked about the Afghanistan peace process, democratic system and bilateral ties.
FM Hanif Atmar thanked Norway for its continued support towards the Afghanistan peace process and shared latest developments in the process.
He expressed his hope about an early start of intra-Afghan peace negotiations, saying the all-Afghan talks would result into lasting peace and stability.
He sought continued international support and increased role in advancing the intra-Afghan talks.
For her part, Ine Eriksen Søreide praised the Afghan government’s efforts and actions with regard to reducing violence in the country.
She assured the Afghans of her country’s support for their demands in the peace process.
