Northern zone dried fruits’ exports to Europe increased

Northern zone chamber of commerce and industries has reported about increase in dried fruits’ exports to European countries.
“Since beginning of exports to European countries through air corridor, dried fruits’ exports have increased by ten percent in northern zone,” head of northern zone chamber of commerce and industries Arash Younusi said.
Europe-Mazar-e-Sharif air corridor has inaugurated in Mowlana Jalaluddin International Airport four months ago.
According to in-charges, Afghanistan exports merchandizes twice a week through this air corridor.
Through the air corridor, 160 tons of dried fruits have so far been exported to Turkey and from there to London.
Dried fruits sellers in Mazar-e-Sharif say that dried fruits’ exports have considerably increased this year.
They added this move has caused the price of dried fruits to raise in Mazar-e-Sharif.
“Fortunately, inauguration of air corridors in different airports has caused dried fruits and other products’ exports to increase. Besides, it helped us to have a good market,” a dried fruits’ sellers told The Kabul Times.
At the same time, complaining about increase in dried fruits’ prices, a number of Kabul residents say that if dried fruits’ exports increase, their prices will raise inside the country and the people can not be afford to buy them.
Calling dried fruits’ exports to European countries a positive step, economic experts say that inauguration of air corridors has helped Afghan traders to easily export their products and in return, import items our people need.
They added establishment of such air corridors will help bolster relations between the countries and will positively affect their policies.
It is merit to mention that first shipment which weighted 60 tons has been exported to India, after which, few shipments of Afghan traders have been transferred to European countries.
This comes as the ministry of commerce and industries called establishment of Afghanistan-India air corridor effective to grow exports rate in the country.
