KABUL: World Teachers’ Day was commemorated in a ceremony held in presence of acting and designate minister of information and culture Mohammad Tahir Zuhair at Marafat High School in Kabul.
In the ceremony held on this occasion with participation of teachers and a number of students and guests, acting minister of information and culture in his speech congratulated the World Teachers’ Day to all teachers particularly the teachers of Marafat High School, asserting that there would be no development and tranquility in a society without school, teacher and seeking knowledge.
Pointing to effective role of teacher towards development of society, acting minister of information and culture said Afghanistan education system has unfortunately suffered due to continued war, disputes and insecurity.
He hoped Afghanistan would reach peace, stability, security and development wished and demanded by all Afghans.
Acting minister of information and culture further said that it would be impossible to reach development without education, higher education and reading and without educated society, adding that unfortunately the culture of reading and publication of books was not considerable and no fundamental attention was being paid to learning and education in the country.
Meanwhile, in the ceremony head of Marafat Civil Capacity Building Organization Aziz Royesh by congratulating the World Teachers’ Day to all teachers briefed related to activities of the organization.
The ceremony ended after a number of teachers were granted with certificates of appreciation and banquets of flowers.
