KABUL: About 235 people tested positive for coronavirus pandemic among 581 suspected cases over the last 24 hours in Afghanistan, taking the nations’ tally to 2704 cases since the pandemic outbreak in the country over the last two months, the Ministry of Public Health said Sunday.
Dr. Wahidullah Mayar, the ministry’s spokesman told media that 12 Afghan citizen have lost their lives over the last 24 hours taking the total death cases to 85, while the total recovery reaches to 345.
“Kabul with 65 positive cases, Kandahar with 54, Herat 19, are leading provinces with major COVID-19 positive cases,” said the spokesman adding Panjshir has also 14 positive cases, Takhar, 13, Nangarhar, 12, Samangan and Ghor each 10, Baghlan nine cases could be listed second.
The new cases also surfaced in the country reached to seven in Wardak, five each in Badghis, Bamyan and Laghman, three in Sar-e-Pul, two each in Parwan and Kunar and one each in Farah and Helmand provinces, according to the spokesman.
“Three COVID-19 infected lost their lives in Ghazni, two each in Balkh and Faryab, one each in Nangarhar, Bamyan, Kunar, one each in Dykundi, Sar-e-Pul and Khost provinces taking the total death cases to 85,” said Mayar.
