KABUL: Speaking at the State Accountability Program to the Nation held at Government Media and Information Center on Wednesday, Acting and first deputy governor of De Afghanistan Bank Wahidullah Nosher, highlighted the establishment of the first Islamic bank; developing a national strategy for public access to financial services and its implementation to facilitate public access to financial services and creating facilities for grants to businessmen, investors and the public as major achievements in strengthening the financial sector.
Emphasizing that the fight against terrorism financing and the fight against money laundering as an indispensable factor for a stable and mobile economy, he added: “DAB has always strived to track down the sources of terrorism funding and money laundering in the country’s financial sector thus a database is launched for reporting a large exchange for dealers and money exchange service providers, and two MoUs have been signed with National Directorate of Security (NDS) and Attorney General’s Office (AGO).
Installing a new payment system, upgrading the national electronic payment system and adding new services in line with the latest technology in the electronic payment sector; integrating and stabilizing the cost of financial transactions through Automated Teller Machines (ATM) between banks; finalizing the automation project and Integration of DAB Payrolls with the World Bank and launching electronic human resource, are the main DAB’s activities related to creating systems, he said.
DAB has implemented six development projects and 12 normal and operational projects in the construction section; two development projects and 26 normal and operational projects in the goods section and five development projects and 20 normal and operational projects in advisory and non-advisory services section in 1398, he added.
