KABUL: Acting Minister of Information and Culture Mohammad Tahir Zuhair in a virtual meeting with provincial directors of information and culture has called for national mobility to defuse Taliban publicity. This comes after a number of media outlets shared reports saying that a number of districts have fallen to hand of Taliban and some networks have launched pro-Taliban propaganda against the people of Afghanistan. “Taliban act is totally false and cannot stand against the people and Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) as they have turned to propaganda war against the people,” said Mohammad Tahir Zuhair. Pointing to three main issues, Acting Minister of Information and Culture said with new security changes in the country, all provincial directors of information and culture should pay further attention to the protection of cultural heritages and historic monuments so that they remain unharmed during ongoing fightings. The Acting Minister also by pointing to some districts that have recently fallen to the hand of Taliban said, it would be Taliban’s big mistake if think they could take Afghanistan to 1990s, adding that the group had no capability to manage and control a district. He said that Taliban by capturing centers of some districts were destroying public infrastructures and killing people, showing their weaknesses as they knew that they temporary captured the areas. He assured the people that districts that have recently fallen to the hand of Taliban would be soon cleared of presence of the Taliban group. Acting Minister of Information and Culture further said that Taliban has started war propaganda against the government and republic as they have made effort to pave the way for such a propaganda in areas they have temporary captured. He stressed that the people should be made aware of Taliban’s crimes and local media should raise further voice in support of the ANDSF, tasking provincial directors of information and culture to launch publicity in their provinces to make the people aware of facts in the country.
